Featured Employee: Igor Talpalatski GIS Surveyors
Igor was born in Kishinev, Moldova and moved to Seattle when he was 8 years old. Shortly after finishing High School, Igor joined the US Air Force where he went through training in Texas, Mississippi, and California. Once his training was complete, he was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, MT, where he worked as an Electronics Maintenance Technician supporting the Minuteman ICBM missile system.

After four years of proudly serving the country, Igor went back to school and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and GIS Certificate from Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. As computer science and programming was not included in his course curriculum, he began taking online classes in his spare time to learn how to use Python to automate tasks.

Shortly after graduating, Igor started a job with a LiDAR company and began building up his experience with LiDAR data processing and classification. He quickly moved from Quality Control Analyst, to Team Lead and then to Production Manager.

In September of 2018, Igor accepted a job with GIS Surveyors where he works as our LiDAR Manager, leading the LiDAR data processing team to complete powerline survey projects as well as developing and implementing procedures and Python automation scripts.

When not at work, Igor enjoys spending time exploring the great outdoors with his wife. When weather permits, they enjoy hiking the many trails in their local area. He is also an avid photographer, which pairs nicely with hiking.

Thank you, Igor, for all your hard work and commitment to the company so far!
