Meet our featured employee of the month, Debbie Holt.

Debbie HoltDebbie was born in the southern part of Virginia in Danville but moved to Huntsville, Alabama in 1994 where she worked as an outside sales professional for a local trucking company. After ten years of employment, she was hired by a local mapping company where she was responsible for the quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of orthophotography and soon after LiDAR classification and feature collection. This is where her geospatial career began!

Debbie joined GIS Surveyors in 2018 as a LiDAR Analyst and her skills and eagerness to learn and succeed has not gone unnoticed. She is responsible for all things LiDAR including QA/QC, processing and classification as well as creating and editing PLS-CADD models for use by utility engineers. A key part of this role is coordinating and communicating with internal staff about LiDAR data production.

Despite leading a busy life, with a full-time job and being a mother to four beautiful girls and a granddaughter, Debbie decided to go back to school in the spring of 2017 to complete an Associate’s degree in Engineering Graphics. Since starting back at school, she has won a number of academic awards and achievements including five semesters on the President’s List and one on the Dean’s list, being a recipient of the Gene Haas Scholarship and being awarded the all-Alabama Academic Team honoree and Scholarship recipient, amongst many others.

Debbie has been accepted into the University of Alabama Tuscaloosa for Fall 2019 and has recently won the Community College Presidential Scholarship. She plans to major in Environmental Studies with an emphasis on GIS.

When she is not working or studying, Debbie spends her time volunteering for various women’s and family support charities, and enjoys reading, writing and poetry, along with spending time with her daughters and granddaughter.

Thank you Debbie, for all your hard work and commitment to the company so far!
