Chris was born and raised in San Diego, California where he studied electronics and computer technology earning his A.S. in Computer Technology from Cuyamaca College. He eventually transferred to San Diego State University (SDSU), where in 1999 he earned a B.S. in Computer Science with a minor in Geological Sciences.
In graduate school, Chris studied Computational Science and Geophysics and developed code that was used to constrain the depth of the Earth’s crust in Baja California, Mexico. He began working as a geotechnical geologist while continuing his studies at SDSU. Later, while working as a geologist for an environmental consulting firm, Chris was able to leverage his experiences in computer and geological science to become the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist. During this exciting time, Chris also got married, having met his wife, Rebecca, when they were both in the Computer Science program at SDSU.
After earning a certificate in GIS from Mesa College in San Diego, Chris went to work for GIS Surveyors, Inc. (GSi) in August 2015 where he now works as a GIS Analyst. His primary duties include performing geospatial analysis and producing maps in support of client projects. Chris is also an experienced ArcFM editor and is responsible for updating client assets to geospatially accurate LiDAR data.
Chris says the best part of working for GSi is being a part of a team that is constantly striving to leverage the latest technology to deliver the best solutions for their clients. “Paul and Matt have really built a world class organization that encourages personal growth and team interaction to constantly evolve a stronger, more capable organization.”
When not at work, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and family. He and his wife both love to travel and enjoy locations with great snorkeling. They love music, especially Rock and the Blues, and like going to concerts. Other hobbies include hiking, geology, rock collecting, bodysurfing, gardening and studying history.
Thank you, Chris, for all your hard work and commitment to the company so far!
